J.S. Slater
An obituary for John Samuel Slater (1850-1911) is in Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 72 (1911-12), 252-3. He was Professor of Civil Engineering at the Presidency College, Calcutta, and later Principal of the Engineering College in Sibpur. He taught the students astronomy. The presentation is recorded in Monthly Notices 52 (1891-2), 207. He published a pamphlet, which seems to be the account from the Patent Office Register, see Bibliography.
