Prototype geocentric orrery by J. R. Millburn (1925-2005), 1962, with accessories & related items [Inv.93124]. The Millburn Bequest consists of the aforementioned together with: his archive of correspondence, research & writings, & some personal papers; his collections of manuscripts, ephemera, prints & maps, acts of parliament, & newspapers (latter 1688-1999); & his library, including collections of works by Martin, Ferguson, & Adams snr. & jnr. (unwanted items to be sold). Also included within or additional to the above categories are: engineering drawings for his orreries; some photographs & cine films; microfilms chiefly of manuscripts & newspapers; a miniature of an unknown man painted by Ferguson, mid 18thC. [13513]; a framed, hand-coloured version of Dunn's 'Compleat Orrery' print, 1780 [10016]; a plastic toy orrery, 1994 [13536]; sundry drawing instruments; his Canon StarWriter wordprocessor & discs; copies of some of his publications (to be sold); & (for use) a scanner-printer-copier & a microfilm reader (latter transferred to another University library). Further archives & photographs, & his model demonstrating elliptical or cometary motion, 1977 [11695], came in 2009 & 2012 [see pp.184 & 195 below].
