The rete is a replacementThis replacement rete has an unusual design in that it lacks central strapwork that would normally attach it to the pin and allow it to pivot about the centre. It does not appear ever to have had such supporting material..The zodiac on the rete is labelled: حمل , ثور , جوزا , سرطان , اسد , سنبله , ميزان , عقرب , قوس , جدي , دلو , حوت

Pin & Horse

The rete is attached using a pin & horse. The replacement pin and horse are presumably contemporary with the replacement rete. The horse (inventory no. 85861) is longer than usual so that it can hold the rete, which lacks the central section.
