Provenance

The Barnett Collection, bequeathed to the Museum by T. G. Barnett, a Birmingham jeweller and goldsmith, consisted chiefly of watches, clocks, and sundials, and contained one astrolabe. Barnett acquired it about 1925. It had previously belonged to ‘Ali Hikmet, of Kirkuk, Iraq, who had taught astronomy with its aid until his death in 1924.
