Throne, Ring and Shackle

The throne is of the indo-persian, pierced type made of brass attached with integrated base made of brass and has a simple, round cross-section ring made of brass and omega type shackle made of brass . More information

Mater

The mater and limb are of one-piece construction. The tab to hold the tympans in place is loacted at the bottom of the instrument, 180° from the throne.. Scales on the limb: degree scale. More information

Back

The back contains 15 scales of the following types: Altitude; Declination; Prayer lines; Sine/Cosine; Cotangent; Shadow square; Lunar Mansions; Zodiacal signs; Terms; Faces; Triplicities. The back is inscribed: with a maker's signature marked as صنعت أضعف العباد محمد مقيم ابن عيسى ابن الهداد اسطرلابي همايوني لاهوري (Work of the weakest of servants Qāʾim Muḥammad ibn ʿĪsā ibn Allāhdād (or: Ilāhdād), the imperial (humāyūnī) astrolabist of Lahore.). Along right edge of shadow square. with a date marked as فى سنه ١٢٢١ (In the year 1221). In a different hand. with a date marked as فى سنه سكندرى ١٩٥٥ غظنه (In the year of Alexander 1955 1955). The year is written twice, once in modern Arabic numerals and once in abdjad numbers. with a date marked as فى سنه هجرى ١٠٥٣ غنج (In the Hijri year 1053 1053).
