Throne, Ring and Shackle

The throne is of the simple type made of brass attached with integrated base made of brass and has a simple, round cross-section ring made of brass and rotating pin type shackle made of brass . More information

The mater and limb are of two pieces, riveted construction. The limb has been repaired around one of the pins holding the limb to the back plate.. Scales on the limb: equal hours scale; equal hours scale; altitude scale. More information

Rete, Nut & Bolt

The rete contains 39 stars. The zodiac on the rete is labelled: 1 ARIES , 2 TAVRVS , 3 GEMINI , 4 CANCER , 5 LEO , 6 VIRGO , 7 LIBRA , 8 SCORPIO , 9 SAGITTARIVS , 10 CAPRICORNVS , 11 AQVARIVS , 12 PISCES .The rete is inscribed with a maker's signature marked as: IOAN: ANTHO: LYNDEN FAC HAILBRVNNÆ (Johann Anton Lynden made this in Heilbronn). Located on the meridian-line strap, the place-name separated at the top.
The rete is attached using a nut & bolt. A Maltese cross threads onto brass bolt, which has a large polished head.. More information
