A Proposed New Graduate Course

Spring, 1995

A new M.Sc. course in the History of Science is planned for introduction in Michaelmas Term, October 1996. The proposal is at present under consideration by the relevant boards and committees of the University. If approval is given, the course will be based in the Museum of the History of Science and will draw substantially on its collections of instruments and books.

Students will attend for a total of twelve months in all, probably following a taught course for two and a half terms, sitting a written examination, and preparing a dissertation for submission at the end of the academic year. It is likely that the course will be attractive both to historians of science with strong interests in instruments and to students hoping to pursue curatorial careers in museums of science.
Full details relating to the course will be announced, it is hoped, in the autumn edition of this newsletter. However, interested students, who may require details of the course before then for various reasons, are encouraged to apply for information by writing to the Keeper at the address given at the bottom of this page.
