Text:
The square wooden frame carries two windings. One of these is in series with the Leyden jar and the spark-gap, the balls of which were connected to the terminals of a Newton induction coil. The other winding, consisting of a single turn, was connected between aerial and earth. This arrangement yielded more sustained oscillations and helped greatly to reduce the mutual interference that had been experienced previously.
