The church of St Peter-in-the-East is now the college library of St Edmund Hall. On its south wall, to the left of the entrance, is a fine memorial, with seed pods and flowers carved in the stone, to Jacob Bobart, the first keeper of the Botanical Gardens. In the churchyard of St Peter-in-the-East is the grave of the balloonist James Sadler, whose plaque in Christ Church Meadow we encountered earlier, and in the library also there is another memorial to him.
