Diptych Dial
Unsigned
circa 1600; Spanish
Ivory and silver; 63 x 74 x 28 mm

Although quite a plain instrument, this dial has a floating compass card finely painted in red, blue and gold. This feature is the basis of the attribution of a Spanish origin.

The rest of the decoration is very simple and geometrical and the outer sides of both leaves are blank.
