Astrolabe
Unsigned
circa 1450; French
Brass; 280 mm in diameter

This astrolabe currently does not have plates, though it might have had a very thin one.

The mater is engraved with the lines which are usually on the plates, for latitude 50?. There are 90 lines for almucantars, one every degree, so the instrument is tamm or perfect. An inscription on the mater reads 'Jeh Charla'.

The rete is made for 37 stars, more than half of which are named in Latin.
