Ring Dial
Attributed to Epiphanius Evesham
circa 1600; English
Brass; 33 mm in diameter

On the outer side of this ring dial are engraved the initials 'E E', probably of Epiphanius Evesham, of whom only one other signed dial is known.

On the outside face of the rim of the dial is soldered a plate with an engraved acorn branch and the initials 'A P', probably those of the ring's owner. The engraving is in reverse relief, so the plate may well have been intended to be used as a seal.
