Diptych Dial
Signed by Paul Reinmann
circa 1600; Nuremberg
Ivory and brass; 55 x 74 x 11 mm

This oval dial, with its very simple decoration and use of two colours (red and black), is likely to be an everyday instrument.

The table of epacts is only for Julian dates and starts with the year 1602. The instrument therefore probably dates from around that year.
