Equinoctial Dial
Unsigned
15th century ?; origin unknown
Brass; 39 mm in diameter

This very simple equinoctial dial has a nocturnal on the top of the lid. One end of its index acts as a catch for keeping the lid shut. The hour ring is divided in 18 parts and it could be adjusted for latitude by placing the point of the gnomon in a depression on a cross bar over the compass glass (now missing). The compass is divided in eight sectors.
