Bespoke Sessions
The museum’s collection includes numerous objects relating to time, astronomy, electricity, chemistry, medicine, photography, microscopy, and more. Take advantage of the opportunity to use the collection and our resources to enrich and encourage the curiosity of your pupils.
One Year 5 class used the museum as a resource for their project on the History of Medicine and were able to look at books in the library dating back to 1517, explore the museum’s display of relevant objects, and view the contents of an 18th century box of medical materials. Their teacher reported: “We absolutely loved our time with you – the library went down a complete storm – I have one child who hates reading who wrote a whole page on what she had found out! Also the medicine chest came up again and again and they all noticed things around the museum that I never even saw! The presentations morphed into something completely beyond my imagining.”
Please do not hesitate to contact the education officer to discuss your needs and ideas. E-mail michelle.holloway@mhs.ox.ac.uk, phone 01865 277297.
