Brief Description: Oil painting of Philip Bury Duncan (1772–1863) who was Keeper of the Ashmolean Museum from1829 until 1854. Appears unsigned. Unglazed. The frame is much later and the frame maker's label is stuck to the reverse of the frame. The back of the painting has been covered with board and four copper alloy fixings. Two copper alloy hook and eye fixings with copper alloy hanging wire.
Provenance: Presented by Mr P. H. A. Bowman in 1965.
