Brief Description: Daguerreotype portrait of a man, seated half-length, turned to right, his left arm resting on a table beside his top hat. The photographic surface is heavily tarnished and blue in colour around the edges, and spotted but the image clear in the centre. Plain backdrop. Untinted, though there appears to be a gold line around his right hand and his left cuff, which may have been intended as retouching. Cased.

Wooden case covered in thin wine-red leather, plain except for Beard's logo and details under the royal arms gold embossed on back. Plain dark red velvet internal pad. Plain mat (no frame). Two hook clasps.

Provenance: Purchased from The Bookshop down the Lane, Bicester, in 2003 (accessioned in 2013), which acquired it at an auction sale in Chichester.
