Brief Description: | Walnut Kneehole Desk of William-and-Mary style. With quarter-veneered top with shaped central cartouche and corner spandrels of oyster veneer, guilt and moulded edge. With ogee-shaped frieze drawers and three oyster-veneered graduated drawers to each pedestal, on shaped parcel-gilt bun feet. Included with the desk is a small bundle of correspondence referring to the refurbishment of Marconi's London office in 1936-7, of which this desk is thought to have formed a part. In the event, Marconi died before he saw the new office. | ||||||||||
