Brief Description: Demonstration microscope, by Mattews, London. The eyepiece screws into a copper alloy tube that pushes into the body. The optical parts are held in a clamp with a tightening screw, on a stand that slides in a dovetail slot in a copper alloy plate on a shaped wooden base. A second dovetail plate is fixed at right angles to the first. The body is inscribed with the maker's name and a collar with a spring clip, to hold specimens screws to the end.
