Brief Description: | Metal box or tin originally containing ten unbound, possibly unfixed daguerreotypes by Hugh Lee Pattinson, together with a page from an 1845 Egerton price list (12020). Sheet steel painted black on the outside, with slip-on lid; fitted by means of heavy steel-encased brass ends with 6 slots to hold 12 daguerreotype plates. Outer dimensions approximately 3½ by 4½ by 1 inches. A dozen quarter-plate daguerreotype plates (approximately 3¼ by 4¼ inches) were supplied in such a box, and in this instance the customer, Pattinson, has retained the box to store his exposed but unbound plates. | ||||||||||
