BLOUD DIAL
c.1660

Mottled ivory, silver, etc.; compass-card printed from an engraved plate. Signed, "Charles Bloud ADieppe"; undated.

Includes: 1. Universal equinoctial dial; 2. Southern part of the equinoctial dial and a volvelle; 3. Bloud dial; 4. Perpetual calendar.

On top of the upper leaf are religious symbols suggesting that the instrument was made for a Jesuit. The compass-card is inscribed, "VITA. HOMINIS. VELVT. VMBRA. FLVIT. DVM. STARE. VIDETVR".
