German EQUINOCTIAL DIAL
Late 17th century.

Gilt and silvered brass; with leather-covered case. Signed, "Nicolaus Rugendas in Augsp: 48 Gr"; undated.

The compass has an adjustable plate for showing the magnetic deviation.

Inside the lid of the case is a copper disc engraved with the latitudes of various towns.
