WIG-SPECTACLES 1780-1

Silver rims and pivotted sides: with paper-covered case. The silver bears a hall-mark of 1780-1. Oval magnifying lenses, with additional lenses hinged at the side-joints for extra-high magnification, perhaps for cataract. The left-hand side bears the number 18. This type of spectacles was a fore-runner of Benjamin Franklin's bi-focal spectacles.
