ARITHMETICAL COMPENDIUM (Part)

The lower part of an arithmetical compendium; boxwood, with flat Napier's 'rods', and instructions printed on paper from an engraved plate.

A complete instrument is in the Royal Scottish Museum, Edinburgh, which includes an abacus in the upper part that forms the lid. It is signed "Robert Jole fecit", and "Jnstrument for Aritmeticke inuented by Sr C. C. [Sir Charles Cotterel] 1667".
