Brief Description: Rectangular base plate with engraved floral decoration and two angels flanking the inset compass. The hour circle pivots is tightened on two uprights by wing nut screws and there is a latitude quadrant with plummet. The hour circle has hours only on its upper surface and the gnomon does not project below the equator, making winter time-telling difficult.

The compass bowl is divided into 32 points with N, O, S, W for the cardinal points. There is an engraved needle marked for the variation of the compass 2 points east of north (22.5 degrees). However the engraved needle rather than N has been set in the northerly direction. The base of the bowl may have been rotated at some time to compensate for changing variation.
