Brief Description: An early Maelzel metronome from the workshop established in Paris in 1816, retailed by Charles Wheatstone from his London musical instrument shop, which was situated at 20 Conduit Street from the late 1820s.
Primary Inscriptions: Signed on a circular disc let into the pyramidal foot "No 2 Brevet d'invention METRONOME MAELZEL Paris". On the inside of the base is a paper label inscribed "WHEATSTONE No. 20, Conduit Str, Regent Str. LONDON".
