Brief Description: Set of  4 approximately twelve-inch and 3 smaller rules with various scales for architects, draughtsmen, etc., in a fitted mahogany box with blue textile lining. Mostly by Elliott Brothers, but the single Ivory rule is by their father William Elliott with the address 268 High Holborn (which is 1835-49).

Contained in a fitted wooden box with a blue satin and velvet lining and with copper alloy plaque on top inscribed "CLB" [sic]. presumably an owner's initials but oddly not matching the name "C. L. Druitt" stamped on all but one of the rules. The letters on the plaque are heavily scratched so as to look like engraving but are not professionally engraved; likewise the decoration on the keyhole escutcheon.
Primary Inscriptions: Ivory rule stamped "W. ELLIOTT. 268 HIGH HOLBORN LONDON" All wooden rules stamped "ELLIOTT BROS- LONDON." All but one of the rules are stamped with the name of a later owner "C. L. DRUITT"
