Single Plate Universal Astrolabe, European, 15th Century with Later Additions

Brief Description: Single plate with simple three-lobed throne and suspension ring. One side carries a universal projection on the plane of the solsticial colures with a graduated index rule, a brachiolus and an ecliptic rule attached to an adapted ecliptic arc. The other side carries a zodiac calendar, a shadow square, a latitude plate with houses and unequal hours and a fixed ecliptic circle, with a counterchanged alidade carrying two brachioli. The numerals and letters are in a mixture of Gothic and italic script.
