Brief Description: Included is a windrose; vertical and horizontal string gnomon dials for common hours; a vertical pin gnomon dial for Italian hours; a horizontal pin gnomon dial for Babylonian hours; and a compass (needle and glass missing). The dial is illustrated with various figures, including men using a cylinder dial, a diptych dial, an armillary sphere and an astrolabe; a putto resting his arm on a skull; and a woman in classical dress.
Primary Inscriptions: " * PAVLVS ³ REINMAN / * ZV ³ NORMBERG *" and "15 * * 78" on the inside of the upper leaf, with the maker's mark of a coronet on the outside of the lower leaf.
Provenance: Presented by Lewis Evans Bought by Lewis Evans in Florence in 1895 for 16 shillings.
