Brief Description: Experimental photogenic drawing by W. H. F. Talbot, undated but 1839. Unevenly cut and one corner torn; earlier fold mark down middle; part of Whatman 1838 watermark. 52921 is probably part of the same original piece of paper. Very dark purplish black, seemingly with no visible image, though (like its companions 52921 and 65957) there may possibly be an indistinct vestigial plant-like image. Silver tarnish appearance on back. Given to Herschel by Talbot as a specimen of the current state of his photogenic drawing process.
