Brief Description: Waxed paper negative (presumably Le Gray's process) of tropical vegetation, taken in the Palanpore region of India. An unusually late use of the paper negative, presumably because it was more suited to the climate, or just lighter to carry.
Primary Inscriptions: Captioned in ink along top border: 'No 8 - Galpon[?] 10 Novr- 74'.
Provenance: Presented by Lieutenant-Colonel A. G. Shortt in 1941. Taken by his father Major-General Alexander Young Shortt when he was Political Resident (representative of the British Government) in the native state of Palanpur, India, about 1860-70.
