Brief Description: The base of this instrument is a large wooden block. A compass joint at the centre of the base supports a heavy cylindrical pillar. The stage is mounted, on a bracket, at the top of the pillar. It consists of a rectangular plate with a circular hole and two pinholes. A rotating disk with four apertures is mounted beneath the stage. A triangular post extends from the top of the pillar. The body is held on a joint, which rotates from the vertical, attached to two sliding collars on the post. A bar behind the post can be racked up and down by two knobs at the top of the pillar. This raises and lowers the body for focusing. The body tube is held in a sliding collar that screws into a sleeve. The eyepiece assembly pushes into the top of the tube and a conical nose holds the objective.
