Brief Description: Ebony 14" T-frame with brass index arm; ivory scale with vernier; back horizon glass (sight broken off); three filters; pencil top and ivory scratch plate on reverse missing. In wooden case with set of accession papers and envelope.
Primary Inscriptions: "SBR" on ivory scale; trade label for Charles Jones inside case, with two other fragmentary trade labels (one for John Gray (II)); "248" scratched inside one leg; "Capt. Mardon [symbol] 1844" written in ink on ivory plate, with "J" and dividers.
Provenance: Presented by F. A. Bellamy. Owned by Captain Mardon (d. 1844)
