Brief Description: Mater; rete for 33 stars; 4 plates; alidade; horse. The mater is engraved with a gazeteer of the latitude and longitude of 77 places. One of the plates is marked with a tablet of horizons of eastern Islamic type.
Primary Inscriptions: The lengthy inscription engraved on the back reads: "The delineator of the lines, the circles, and the numerals is Muhammad Amin ibn Amirza Khan an-Nakha`i, then al-Qummi, praising and praying. This has been finished in the time of the just sultan, the greatest, the glorified Khagan, master of the sovereigns of the Turks, the Arabs, the Persians, legitimately the sultan of the sultans of the horizons, and master of the necks of the nations, Shah`Abbas, the Safawi, the Husayni, Bahadur Khan. May God make eternal his sovereignty and his power. The year 996. The flags of his eternal nation have not ceased to be raised by the support of the august Majesty, powerful, royal, great, leonine, who shows the right way, the Khan. May God maintain his justice by the order of the states of the Muslims by divine favours".
