Brief Description: Early French daguerreotype of an engraving of two children, a boy and girl, sitting beneath a tree in a romantic setting, distant landscape to right. Enclosed and bound in a crude, early mount, with hook for hanging. Contemporary inscription on back, partly in pencil and partly in ink, mostly illegible but containing a date in the 1840s.
Primary Inscriptions: Inscription on back: 'L[or Q] ... [worn or erased] 184 ... [ditto] | ... [illegible signature or initials, possibly J.E.Z.] | Courbains Vive La France | ... [illegible] Chambra ... [illegible] soeur'.
