An octagonal copper alloy pillar stands on a flat-folding tripod. A horseshoe mount holding the concave mirror fits a socket on one of the feet. A cylindrical inner pillar slides up from within the stand and a wheel with eight objectives is attached to the top by a mill-headed screw. This instrument can be used as a simple microscope with a dyed black ivory eyepiece or with a black ivory body tube that screw into a bracket on the wheel. Two copper alloy rings form the stage. The lower is set on a sliding mounting and is held in place by a tightening screw. The wooden fitted case is covered with black fishskin, has two clasp fasteners, and is lined with green velvet. The accessories it contains are three Lieberkühn; a Lieberkühn carrier; two sets of stage forceps, one with a cork disc; a copper alloy and glass specimen holder; an ivory talc box; an ivory black and white disc in a copper alloy mount; a fishplate; two pairs of copper alloy forceps; and five ivory sliders.
