Brief Description: The instrument stands on a turned wooden base on three feet. A plane mirror is mounted at its centre. Three turned legs rise to the stage. A steel spring presses a wooden panel with a circular hole against the stage, to hold specimens. The body and two drawer tubes are pasteboard, covered with paper and there is a wooden collar at the top of each. The settings for the eye and objective lenses are wood.
Primary Inscriptions: "Microscope with reflector, probably of the middle XVIII century & a modification of the Culpeper & Scarlett model of 1738 Pres. by Williams, 1908." On a metal edged tag "20561 F. Williams. A gift from Mr. W. Bridgewater" written in ink on the underside of the base "IM" is also caved into the base
