Brief Description: This brass instrument stands on a flat tripod foot formed from three turned rods with ball ends. The stage and body are held on clamps on a cylindrical pillar with a ball cap screwed to the top. The body tube has two lenses in the eyepiece and a blackened eyecup. There is a field lens in the tube which narrows conically to a coarse screw thread which fits into a brass ring at the bottom of the support. The objective lens screws into the bottom of the body tube. Focusing is by mechanism of vertical screws on which the body is mounted. The clamps can also be loosened for coarse adjustment. The stage has a rectangular plate with two pinholes in the rear corners and a circular spring clip around the raised stage hole. There are two more spring clips on the stage mounting that hold the plate. An ivory knob on the side of the stage plate allows its position to be adjusted.
