Brief Description: A solar microscope with a rectangular mirror attached to a square plate with a central circular thread to attach the conical lens. Focussing is by rack and pinion. The microscope is housed in a hinged mahogany box with two swing clasp fastenings and a lock mechanism. Inside, there are wooden supports for the instrument and its accessories. The accessories with the microscope are: A copper alloy box with a Martin mirror inside to view opaque objects; a spring tube with a thread for an eyepiece for use with the Martin mirror box; a wooden handle to use the barrel as a hand-held instrument; an eyepiece; a set of two mill-edged screws; three sliding sub stage condensers; an objective slider with 6 differently sized objective lenses; stage forceps; a copper alloy wire accessory with a circular end; a tray-shaped slide carrier; a copper alloy wet slide with four chambers; a set of seven ivory sliders; an ivory talc box containing mica talcs and copper alloy split circles; two glass vials; and a three-pronged forceps which is moved inside a square tube by a mill-edged screw.
