Brief Description: Brass, box-wood rule hinged to provide four leaves, with in the base a magnetic compass and a pendulum clinometer with scale 30° - 0° -40° by ones; and with two paurs of brass sights, one for the compass and one for the clinometer. Extends to 24 inches. Leather carrying case is presumably 22037.
Primary Inscriptions: "JAMES PARKER THE TURL OXFORD T.N. 22° E. OF M.N." [on brass plaque set into the instrument].
Provenance: Presented by Charles Parker in 1924. Designed and used by his father, the late Mr. James Parker of Oxford.
