Brief Description: Wooden copy of a Cuff microscope

Turned blackened wood base with three feet and a stand for a plane mirror at its centre. Square hole cut into base to accomodate wooden pillar base.

Upright pillar formed of blackened wood. It has a square cross section apart from the lower 25 mm which is turned and fits into a joint in the base. Brass collars on the pillar carry the stage and pasteboard body tube. Pillar has modern label attached by wire, reading '303'.

Upper, inner tube marked with two rings for coarse focusing, fine focus being effected by a screw mounted on the rear of the pillar.

Body tube covered in decorated paper, has polished wood fittings for eyepiece and objective lenses and pushes into a brass tube mount.

Objective lens

The stage consists of two sprung, rectangular brass plates capable of gripping a specimen slider.

Plane mirror in copper alloy mount which attaches to centre of base.
