Brief Description: Table lighter hallmarked London, 1912, made in the form of a Disc Discharger and applied with a plaque engraved 'Marconi's Wireless Telegraph Co. Ltd.', on a marble base. With velvet and silk-lined, leather-covered case. Inscriptions stamped on lid and printed on interior of case.

These lighters were presented to all male delegates of the 1912 International Radiotelegraphic Conference as souvenirs. During the conference the delegates were given a tour of the recently opened New Street works in Chelmsford, the station at Poldhu and entertained at a garden party hosted by Marconi. Ladies received a silver pocket scent bottle (Inv. Num. 37413).
Primary Inscriptions: "MARCONI WIRELESS / TELEGRAPH CO. LTD" etched on underside of object.
