Brief Description: | Sheet of paper off-white (natural) colour one side and black other (looks dark blue where it overlaps the edges), loosely folded with dark side inwards, brownish stains on front. A second, smaller wrapper (11886) of the same paper is contained within. The wrappers (packet 33 in the Museum's numbering) contain 3 experimental photographs dated December 1842 and a manuscript note by Herschel.

Provenance: | Presented by Miss Herschel and Lady Lubbock in 1928. They were the two surviving and youngest children of Sir John Herschel (Francisca and Constance).
