Brief Description: | Very small loosely-folded packet (now stored unfolded), exhibiting very interesting staining all over, predominantly pink and turquoise. The inscription does not appear to be Herschel's hand, so is probably Talbot's. The wrapper (packet 27 in the Museum's numbering) contains 2 experimental photographs given to Herschel by W. H. Fox Talbot in 1839.

Primary Inscriptions: | 'Fixed | with salt | &c.' [probably in Talbot's hand].

Provenance: | Presented by Miss Herschel and Lady Lubbock in 1928. They were the two surviving and youngest children of Sir John Herschel (Francisca and Constance).
