Brief Description: | Folding quarter-plate camera and kit built specifically for T. E. Lawrence ('Lawrence of Arabia'). Rising and vertical swing lens-panel. Reflex view finder on base-board, ball-bearing Dallmeyer levelling device with metal plumbline and a triplet lens. The kit consists of four mahogany book-form double dark-slides for 8 x 11 cm plates, numbered 1-8, and two mahogany double dark-slides for cut-film, numbered 7-10, a dark cloth and baize-lined leather case. The lenses associated with the camera include a bronze telephoto attachment in box, a Dallmeyer rectilinear lens with lens cap, and an aluminium Dallmeyer ADON eye-piece magnifier. | ||||||||||
Primary Inscriptions: | "J.H. DALLMAYER / OPTICIAN / LONDON" stamped on exterior of case. "Property of T.E.Lawrence Pole Hill, Chingford, Essex." handwritten upon exterior of case.
On levelling device: "DALLMEYER"
First two components of triplet lens: "No 2. SER. II DALLMEYER STIGMATIC F/6 PATENT F=5.3"=135mm. J.H. Dallmeyer. LONDON."
Round the lens barrel: "F1=11"=275mm. No 75237"
Rear component screwed to the back of the shutter:
