Brief Description: An incomplete Marquois set with one (out of two) rules and the triangle surviving, and supplemented by the later addition of two rectangular protractors. In wooden box with sliding lid.

Thomas Marquois (f.1761-84) was a 'Professor of the Military Sciences', a private teacher of artillery, fortification, and mathematics for military students, in late 18th-century London.
Primary Inscriptions: "[star] WM. HARRIS . NO. 47 HIGH HOLBORN [star] LONDON [star]" on both the rule and triangle. Rectangular protractors: "[star] THOS. RUBERGALL . COVENTRY STT. LONDON [star]" and "WEST . 83 FLEET STREET LONDON"
