Brief Description: Albumen print mounted on orange card, with printed pictorial series titles on front (back blank), and intrinsic caption. Curved top to each half. View along one of the tracks of the Elevated Rail Road, providing a spectacular receding effect stereoscopically. From the series 'America Illustrated / Stereographs of New York City', no publisher's or photographer's name.
Found with the broken card box of the Lothian hand-held stereoscope (19417); it has been removed for its own safety and catalogued separately.
Primary Inscriptions: Printed pictorial series titles on front of mount: 'America Illustrated, | Stereographs of new York City.'. Intrinsic caption: 'N. Y. Elevated R. R., N. Y.'.
Provenance: Purchased from R. S. Clay in 1944. Part of the Clay Collection. Found with the Lothian hand-held stereoscope.
