|Brief Description:||?Albumen print or sepia toned gelatine print, mounted on card, the card cut down to the size of the photograph plus the signatures beneath, with a caption or identifying inscription re-mounted on the back. Group portrait of Charles Lempriere, W. J. Cooper, and J. A. Wanklyn in the garden of St John's College, Oxford, taken during the 1894 meeting of the British Association for the Advancement of Science; Cooper and Wanklyn are seated full length on a garden bench, Lempriere stands centre behind the bench, in academic dress, holding his mortar-board. Horizontal format. Lempriere (a financier, politician, traveller, etc.) was a fellow of St John's; Wanklyn an analytical chemist and author, visiting for the BA meeting; and Cooper Wanklyn's collaborator and co-author.|
|Primary Inscriptions:||Signed on mount beneath by the three subjects; manuscript caption on part of mount cut away and attached to back: 'Taken at St. John's College Aug: 14th. 1894 during the meeting of the British Association at Oxford.'.
