Photograph (Albumen Print) of Charles Brooke, by Wilson & Readells, Probably 1864
|Inventory Number:|| 12073|
|Object Type:|| |
|Brief Description:||Albumen print mounted on card with mat, the mat with curved top and gilt (and green) inner edge (similar to others such as 12036). The mat is detached. The photo is approximately 8 by 10 inches. Portrait of Charles Brooke, seated full length, turned slightly to right, his top hat on a table, his left hand resting on the table and holding a scientific instrument [presumably one of his own invention]. Brooke (1804-1879) was President of the RMS in 1863-64 and 1873-74. The photograph was probably taken on one of these occasions; compare the carte de visite in the RMS album 11837 (where he is beardless).|
