|Brief Description:||Original case of the daguerreotype portrait of Michael Faraday by Antoine Claudet (30015). When the broken cover glass was replaced and the daguerreotype re-packaged in a conservation mount it would no longer fit into its original case, which is therefore kept and numbered separately.|
Wood covered with thin black leather, granular pattern with relief rectangle, raised ribs with leaf pattern; with gold-tooled lines around top and bottom and around internal borders. Unusual curved sides. Plain dark wine red velvet pad; wine-red paper backing and velvet sides to photograph compartment. Decorative brass clasp.
